It’s hard to believe we are already into 2018, and that it’s already February. Every year I make a vow to share more of our work, using blog posts and social media to showcase the amazing families, babies and couples that we get to work with. Then things get busy, our focus goes to editing, shooting, preparing and planning our sessions… suddenly it’s February 2nd and I haven’t even shared any of the work we’ve been doing!
So, I’m going to go back to the beginning of January- to this sweet baby boy that kicked off 2018 for us.
We’ve worked with this family for many years now, and it’s always such a pleasure to see how the kids have grown. Baby Nathan is a LUCKY little boy, with 4 siblings to love and dote on him ❤
welcome to the world little man ❤
Miss Clare- what a sweet sweet little girl! We usually expect and plan that newborn sessions will include lots of time to cuddle mommy, nurse and time to become perfectly calm and relaxed for their session. Miss Clare and her Mommy had a BIG talk before they came, with lots of praise and hope that she would sleep well for her session. I’m not sure that I have ever quite done such a quick, calm session. She arrived asleep and continued to sleep for pretty much the entire session!!
I always ask families to bring things that mean something to them- ways to make the photos personal- family items, mom and dad’s wedding rings, stuffed animals or blankets from their bedroom- it means I get to arrange and plan “on the fly” but I love the challenge. When I saw the mailbox come into the house, my first thought was “oh my gosh what a FANTASTIC idea, then my second thought came… how on earth can we get asleep and calm enough to sleep inside the mailbox?”… refer back to the first paragraph where I said she slept like a dream! Even as I tucked her little body inside the mailbox, she slept for us. I think it’s such a fun and wonderful way to be able to visually see each year how much she has grown, to look back and think… you fit inside that mailbox!!
Thank you for having me capture these adorable photos!
Time has gotten away with us over the past few months- meaning there are SO MANY amazing sessions that we have done, and simply have not had the time to put together posts of the adorable babies and families we have been working with!
Miss Lina is now 5 months old… CRAZY!! Her session was back in January and she was an absolute dream to work with. She had the best big brother in the world, who was so excited to snuggle her and show her off.
Presenting Miss Lina…
Today we are featuring another family on the blog that we have watched grow and expand over the years, and were so excited to capture little Mr. Elliott’s addition to the family. He was very curious in his session, and not entirely sure that he wanted to sleep and miss all the action, but his adorable little face made the session worth it! Patience and all
When I arrived at their home, Miss Acadia was sound asleep in her Mommy’s arms. She was calm, quiet and everything about her felt so peaceful. As I prepped for the session, she enjoyed her snuggles. I was secretly thinking that at any moment she would wake and cry, just as I was ready to begin the session… but she didn’t. A peaceful transfer onto the newborn set and we were able to breeze through many of the photos.
It may have been one of the most calm newborn sessions I have captured. She woke for a feeding, then settled back to sleep for her family photos (even when her four-legged best friend came in for a sniff)
Presenting, Acadia Rae
Thank you so much for having me in your home to capture these photos for you!
*** Note: Are you pregnant, expecting a child between December 2016 and March 2017? We are now offering a free maternity mini session with the booking of a newborn session. Contact us to reserve your due date now! **
Over the years, we have met families at random events or activities in the community that go on to become regular clients, who we get to see grow and expand their families! Welcome to the lives of one of those families ❤ They first met us last year at a public event where we were offering Easter photos… and their little guy did not want to sit still for his photo to be taken, but we made an impression on them with the patience we displayed as we captured some adorable shots of him!
flashback to little Logan:
fast forward a year, and we get the exciting email that they were about to welcome another little one into their lives, and wanted us along to capture the moments! A maternity session, fresh 48 and a newborn session, we were thrilled to watch this precious family of 3 grow into a family of 4!
Starting with a maternity session at Doon Mills Ruins in Kitchener, we had a fun evening capturing Mama’s bump before the baby arrived. The excitement and anticipation for this family, after everything they had gone through to have a baby, was absolutely palpable in the air!
The Fresh 48 session is great for families who want the excitement of a birth, without actually having me present for the birth itself. I come to capture the excitement of new family members meeting the little one in the environment in which they were born. My Lucas came right on his due date, which made for fantastic planning and timing! When I arrived, Logan was SO EXCITED to show me who had arrived in their family, and was very excited to have a new brother to share his love of hockey with. Watching older siblings interact with the new baby is hands down one of the most heart warming experiences for me (yes, even when it isn’t a happy response), the amount of emotion in these tiny little bodies is wondering to watch and experience.
9 days later, the family joined me in studio for a formal newborn session as well as family photos, updated with their new little man and a certain big boy who is turning 3!!!
It’s been a busy couple of months here at the studio, and we have so many adorable babies, families and children to show you! It’s been a while since we’ve had anyone up on the blog, so starting with the adorable Mr. Cole seemed like a great idea.
Cole was so tiny and precious, sleeping like a dream for his session (once he decided that sleep was a good idea), but when he was awake, it was incredible. I’ve never had the privilege of photographing such a calm, alert and attentive newborn- he followed the camera wherever I went, and seemed to be peering straight into the lens!
Grandma and Grandpa came later in the session to bring Cole’s big sister, and she was just as adorable as Cole, hamming it up for the camera! It became an entertaining studio, with a giggling toddler, content baby and my own cat decided to come join the show and try to steal the hearts of grandma and grandpa 😉
Thank you so much for allowing me to capture your adorable little family.
