Many times we have commented about how blessed we feel to work with families over and over again, watching them grow! The Bedard family is one of those, that we have seen grown since their oldest was just a few months old, and one thing that always sticks out to us is how nice they are, and how patient they are with their kids (even when they don’t want their photos taken haha)
We had the chance to get together for some extended family photos that Josh had chosen to do for Mother’s Day for his mom. Although we had discussed it before Mother’s Day in may, it took some time to get the session itself scheduled for August (sometimes we are busy, and our clients are busy, and scheduling can be a funny thing)
Enjoy these gorgeous little boys! Thanks for having us capture these moments for your family over the years 🙂
As parents, it’s so hard to believe when time flies by so quickly, you aren’t really sure where it went. In photography, we often have the same experience. Today was one of those moments… I (Christine) did my morning facebook peruse, and was greeted by my facebook “memories”, realizing that it has been one year since I captured my first birth as a professional birth photographer.
Many people ask about birth photography, and are either intrigued by the idea, or absolutely horrified. When I first met this mom, she was very pregnant, and very adamant that she wanted a photographer there for her birth. I was beyond excited to see that there is a need for a birth photographer in our community, and even more excited to learn her birth plan and hopes for her birth. I started the process towards becoming a certified professional birth photographer, and this birth was the one that started the ball rolling. One year later, here I am, still a certified birth photographer and LOVING it! It’s not something I do often, but is something I hold dear to my heart.
If you or someone you know is looking for a Waterloo Region/Cambridge/Guelph Birth Photographer, please contact me as soon as possible. I take very limited numbers of birth clients per year, and the dates fill up quickly! Birth photography is incredibly beautiful- it is raw, it is emotional and it is real! 4 years after the birth of our daughter and our photos still bring tears to my eyes. I only hope and pray that my images can do the same for the mamas and babies I capture 🙂
Who is ready to see some more of the stunning wedding between James and Riki! This was one of the most relaxed and beautiful weddings we had the honour of capturing this summer! With some many personal touches, the day was very much about them! Our job is very easy in moments like these…
We want to take a moment to thank James and Riki’s friend, who provided us with some drone footage to put together into this video trailer. We wanted to try some new techniques with our video, and lots of new equipment, which made the day a lot of fun to capture! We think the results speak for themselves..
presenting… James and Riki’s wedding trailer…
Congratulations again guys, and thanks for having us along for the fun!!
To say that August was an insane month is likely VERY underestimated… it was busy, it was chaotic at times, but it was incredible! We had 4 beautiful weddings, 12 family sessions and 10 newborn sessions… WHEW!! The beauty in all these sessions was that most of these family sessions were families we have worked with previously (sometimes many times!) and a few were for cake smash sessions for a bunch of last year’s newborn families!
It’s AMAZING!! Miss Aliya is one of those tiny babies from last year, with a birth story I will never forget (I’m sure mom won’t either!) It’s not often that I get to photograph a baby who was born en route to the hospital, in the car at the side of a busy road! Yep… Miss Aliya likes to keep everyone on her toes 🙂 She is SUCH a ham, and we all spent a majority of this session laughing with her, at her and at ourselves… choosing the HOTTEST day ever to head outside for some family photos, in the hot afternoon sun… not the best idea, we were ALL dripping, but it was well worth it! While we were out taking some photos, we had to get some birthday photos for big brother Nolan as well, he is one of the sweetest kids I have ever met, and honest to goodness, the best big brother!!
Aliya’s mom and I have quickly learned that we are kindred spirits, with so many similarities it’s uncanny at times. Fit in another appointment? why not! need some help? of course! There have been many laughs about this over the course of this month, but we got all the photos (hehe)
Thanks for bringing Miss Aliya back to see us (again and again throughout her life) and for continuing to allow us to capture these beautiful moments in your life and family.
It is hard to believe that it has been three years since we met this adorable family. It all began with a last minute phone call, wondering if we could fit their new baby girl in for a newborn session. That first session was one of our most challenging, but also one of the most rewarding sessions we have had to date. As we learned the story behind this beautiful family, we worked very hard to give mom and dad some beautiful photos of their new baby. We had mom laying down with a blanket on top of her, to help the baby settle for her photos. The poor baby girl had a lot going on, and hearing mom’s heartbeat was the one thing that was able to settle her for some photos. It’s the beauty of newborn photography, finding the things that work for each baby, and finding ways to capture these beautiful photos for the family.
Since that time, I have learned a lot about newborn sessions, about this adorable family and about how to work with babies who don’t necessarily want their photos taken (haha). Fast forward about 17 months, and I received the call that they had welcomed a new little man into their lives. When they arrived in the studio, he was so calm and laid back for his session, and things went beautifully. I still have a photo of him being held by his big sister as a display image in the studio.
Over the summer, we received another email from mom, saying they would be welcoming a new baby girl into their family, and wondering if we could fit a session in at the last minute. Looking at the calendar, I felt a twinge of panic… we were so busy, and had so much going on. I talked to James, and we agreed that we would find a way to make it work for them, this family had snuck their way into our hearts, and we knew everything they had gone through to have their family, and we would make it happen for them! This happens a lot for us- we work with families for so long, and see them through so many phases of their lives, that we feel like they are extensions of our own family- our Straight thru family! This time we scheduled the session for me to go into their home, to give the older siblings a chance to run and play, while we focused on the newborn session. Miss L looked so much like her big brother, and was so cute during her session. After some snuggles, family photos and sibling photos, she settled into a nice sleep to be her own little star.
Presenting Miss L….
This gorgeous Mama is also a blogger, and has some beautiful and heartfelt posts, if you want to see the story behind this beautiful family, you can find it on her website http://www.KatieSpinks.com
Thank you again for having me capture all these moments in your growing family’s life!
When it comes to planning a wedding, there are SO many things to think about, things to price out, things to consider and things to plan. There are the pieces of a wedding that everybody includes in their budget and planning automatically, and then there are the aspects that may be left until a last minute decision based on budget as the day comes closer. Wedding Videography is one of those things- something that many people want in their day, but may often be cut from the planning when all budget considerations come together.
There is something so special about a wedding video, the emotions it draws upon, the moments where you can hear the words of your vows, feeling the emotional tug at your heartstrings, that a photo, as amazing as it is, simply cannot capture.
Meagan and Kyle contacted us only a few short weeks before their wedding, wanting to add a very small package to capture their wedding ceremony, to be able to look back at the vows and relive the moment they said “I do”. We worked quickly to pull it off in a short time frame, even when the wonders of Kitchener construction meant that Meagan was a bit late for the ceremony 😉
Enjoy your wedding trailer guys, thank you so much for having us there to capture your special day!
One of our HANDS DOWN favourite things about our job is the ability to see couples, families and children grow over the years. There is something incredibly special about being given the honour to document a couple as they are expecting their first baby, newborn photography and then being able to see the baby grow into a toddler before the camera… BEST THING EVER!!! No word of a lie, we are always very excited to see a family that we may not have seen since their baby came to see us the year before.
Such was the case with Mr. Onyx. We captured mom and dad in a beautiful sunset session last summer, as they were patiently awaiting the arrival of their little man. Shortly after his birth, they came to the studio in the middle of construction (we had to shoot the session itself in one of our spare rooms because the studio was in the throes of reconstruction!!) to capture this little man’s newborn photos. When they emailed us about scheduling his first birthday cake smash session, it seemed as though the year had flown by. He was SUCH a little ham during the session!
We of courses needed to do some side by side photos in his gallery 🙂
